In year 6, as part of our learning about the Vikings, we discovered information about one of the first Viking raids at Lindisfarne Abbey on Holy Island, Northumbria in January 793 AD. Some of us have written, filmed and edited a television news report about the event. Here is an example by Afrah, Falak and Fatima. And yes . . . we know the Saxons didn’t have televisions or electricity!
In the last week of April, year 4 children travelled back in time to the 1830s at Quarry Bank Mill. They experienced what life was like for the young apprentices who lived there and worked at the cotton mill in the 19th century.
Here some of the children use their ICT and writing skills to imagine what it would have been like to be an apprentice.

Year 4 have been reading ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes. They have used the text to inspire their own descriptions of ‘iron’ characters. In Computing lessons they used their skills to bring writing to life using iMovie and Pic Collage.
